What is the best route through Bratislava Old Town?
Start at Michael's Gate on the north side of the Old Town and walk a few streets south through the pedestrian lanes to the Main Square. From there, the Primate's Palace and St Martin's Cathedral are close by, and the castle is a walk uphill at the end.
This order keeps the uphill walk to the castle for last, so you can time it around the museum's 17:00 last entry. If you arrive by train at the main station, tram 1 runs from there towards Centrum.
The route is a suggestion. Swap the order if one of the interiors you want to see is closed on your day.

What can I see on the Main Square?
The Old Town Hall, whose history goes back to the 13th century and which is home to the Bratislava City Museum, the oldest museum in the city, founded in 1868.
Visit Bratislava mentions a Renaissance arcade added in 1581, 15th-century wall paintings in the chapel of St Ladislav and a view from the tower. It lists the Old Town Hall as open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00, so check the museum's announcements before you plan around it.
Is the Primate's Palace worth a stop?
Yes, for its interiors: the City of Bratislava highlights a set of English tapestries with classical motifs that were rediscovered only in 1903.
