Bratislava CARD: Is It Worth It, and What Does It Include?
The Bratislava CARD is worth it if you plan to visit several paid sights and use public transport within 24, 48 or 72 hours. It gives free entry to places such as the castle museum, Devín Castle and the Old Town Hall, plus a free walking tour. For a short walk around the Old Town only, it usually is not.
Checked in against the official Bratislava CARD website and the Slovak National Museum. Timetables and rules change: confirm with the operator before you travel.

How do I know if the Bratislava CARD pays off?
Add up the regular entry fares of the sights you will really visit, plus the transport tickets you would buy, and compare the total with the current card price for the same number of hours. If the total is higher, the card pays off.
The card tends to make sense on a full day that combines Bratislava Castle, Devín Castle and the Old Town Hall with several tram or bus rides. It makes less sense on a short visit spent walking the Old Town, where most of the sights are streets and squares.
Remember the closing days: the castle museum is closed on Tuesdays and Devín Castle on Mondays. A 24-hour card bought for a Tuesday loses one of its main free entries.
What is free with the Bratislava CARD?
The official site lists free entry to more than twenty museums, castles and sights, including the SNM – Museum of History at Bratislava Castle, Devín Castle, the Old Town Hall, Michael's Tower and the Primate's Palace.
It also lists a free guided walking tour of the centre and free public transport on the transport version. The Slovak National Museum confirms that Bratislava CARD holders enter the castle museum free.
Most free benefits can be used only once per card. At Devín Castle, free entry does not apply during special concerts and events.
Does the Bratislava CARD include public transport?
Only the version with transport. It covers unlimited travel in all IDS BK zones, including the whole city, the Bratislava region and the route to Bratislava Airport.
On city lines you only show the card with your ID if an inspector asks. On regional buses and trains you show it to the driver or conductor, and the digital card shows a QR code that also works offline.
One accompanying child up to 18 travels free with the cardholder.
How does the free walking tour work?
The guided walk leaves daily at 14:00 from the Tourist Information Centre at Klobučnícka 2, in Slovak, English and German. You must book it between 7 days and 2 hours before the start.
Booking is by phone, e-mail or in person, and the tour needs at least two participants. It runs all year, in all weather.
Where can I buy or collect the Bratislava CARD?
Online, in the official app as a digital card, or at sales points. An online purchase gives you a voucher that must be exchanged for the plastic card at a collection point.
Collection points include the Tourist Information Centre at Klobučnícka 2, the Slovak Lines ticket offices at the Nivy bus station, and the ZSSK customer centre at the main railway station, which accepts printed vouchers only. The voucher must be redeemed within 90 days of the expected arrival date.
The digital card counts down from activation, so activate it just before you first use it. You cannot change a card for another one with a different validity.
